　　巧選關(guān)系代詞和關(guān)系副詞

　　1．定語(yǔ)從句中的謂語(yǔ)動(dòng)詞如果缺少主語(yǔ)，先行詞指人時(shí)就用關(guān)系代詞who/that；先行詞為物時(shí)就用關(guān)系代詞which/that。如：

　　The teacher who/that teachers us English graduated from Beijing University.   教我們英語(yǔ)的老師畢業(yè)于北大。

　　The building which/ that stands near the post office is a bank.   屹立在郵局附近的大樓時(shí)一家銀行。

　　2. 定語(yǔ)從句中的謂語(yǔ)動(dòng)詞如果是及物動(dòng)詞且缺少賓語(yǔ)時(shí)，就要選用恰當(dāng)?shù)年P(guān)系代詞 which/that/who/whom。如：

　　The Changjiang Gorges is a beautiful place (which/that) people all over the world look forward to visiting. 長(zhǎng)江三峽是個(gè)美麗的地方，全世界的人都渴望來參觀。

　�。ǘㄕZ(yǔ)從句visiting 是一個(gè)及物動(dòng)詞，必須帶賓語(yǔ)，而關(guān)系副詞where不能做賓語(yǔ)，所以只能用which或that引導(dǎo)，而且可以省略。）

　　Do you believe the reason that/which he explained for his absence?  你相信他對(duì)缺席所解釋的原因嗎？

　　（定語(yǔ)從句中explain是及物動(dòng)詞，從句中缺少賓語(yǔ)，因此用that或which引導(dǎo)定語(yǔ)從句）

　　3．定語(yǔ)從句中的謂語(yǔ)動(dòng)詞如果是不及物動(dòng)詞，用關(guān)系的副詞when，where，why。

　　The Yellow River is our mother river where the Chinese people have created the brilliant Chinese civilization, 黃河是我們的母親河，中華民族在那里創(chuàng)造了燦爛的華夏文化。

　�。ǘㄕZ(yǔ)從句中不缺主語(yǔ)、賓語(yǔ)、表語(yǔ)，先行詞是表示地點(diǎn)的名詞，所以用where引導(dǎo)定語(yǔ)從句，并且在句中作地點(diǎn)狀語(yǔ)。）

　　He didn’t explain the reason why he was late for his work.他沒有解釋上課遲到的原因。

　�。ǘㄕZ(yǔ)從句中及物動(dòng)詞explain帶有賓語(yǔ)the reason, 主、謂、賓俱全，因此用why引導(dǎo)地點(diǎn)狀語(yǔ)從句，并且在句中作原因狀語(yǔ)。）又如：

　　I’ll never forget the days which/that Tom and I spent in Qingdao. (spend是及物動(dòng)詞，which /that作它的賓語(yǔ))

　　I’ll never forget the place where I was born,（bear為不及物動(dòng)詞，where作地點(diǎn)狀語(yǔ)）
